Is It Safe To Smoke Marijuana When Scheduled For Hernia Operation?

Hi.... I am having a hernia operation.....I was told that smoking cigarettes was a BIG no no... fortunately I stopped over three months ago. .... what I still smoke on the daily basis is Marijuana. ....about 4 joints a day. I was told that it s the tobacco/nicotine in the wrap used to roll the Marijuana that s not good for the operation. ... does this mean I can still smoke out of a bong or pipe?? Or do I need to stop completely? ? And if so, how many days prior? Thank you.
