Is It Safe To Take Claritin To Treat Itchiness In Back And Arms For Folliculitis?

I went to ambulatory care last Thursday and was diagnosed with folliculitis and was put on antibiotic smz/tmp ds and also prednisone. I have the rash mainly on my back chest and some on my arms.The doctor said it should be cleared up by the weekend and its not much better than it was. I'm still itching really bad. I'm also taking Claritin he thought that would help. Is there anything else to do to relieve the itching? Should I go back to the doctor yet? This is the first time I've had this.
