Is It Safe To Take Forteo To Cure Osteopenia?

I have to decide whether or not to take Forteo. My general physician says no as I have osteopenia not osteoporosis. My orthopedic physician says yes as over the past 3 years I have experienced fractures in my wrist, knee cap, ankle, and right ring and little fingers. I am 68 yrs old and active. I worry about the side affect of possible bone cancer and am on the fence. Any suggestions?
