Is It Safe To Take Paxil To Treat Hallucinations?

My mom is 87 years old. She is in bad health. She has been having hallucianations for about a year now. It has gotten very bad lately. She can't see well at all or hear well either. She keeps thinking someone at her assisted living facility is trying to kill her and break in. Sha has done this for the last four nights. She says she sees them trying to saw off the door handle and telling one assistant there she has a gun and will use it. Which she does not have a gun. She has always been a little frightened all her life. She has been on Paxil for about 9 months twice a day 20mg each. She is in bad health but her mind up until the last year or so seems to be naturally slowing down. Could Paxil make this worse. I have gone over her meds I don't see where anything else could be doing this. She has Copd,Lupus, asthma and leg problems (circulation).
