Is It Safe To Take Half Pack Of Pills?

Im on my last week of the pill now, and then next week starting sunday I have a pill free week. However, my next pill free week and therefore my bleeding, will start when my boyfriend gets back from holiday. I dont want to take the packet back to back because it messed my cycle up last time, but can i just not take it for a couple of weeks, then start it two weeks before he comes back, so that it will have time to work? thanks.
