Is It Safe To Take Megeprol Acetate To Increase Appetite?

My dad has been taking megeprol acetate for a few wks to help increase his appetite, but has had hiccups constantly, and his stomach is jumping, spasming maybe? kinda like his stomach has the hiccups...? We are concerned that this medicine is causing more problems than good.
