Is It Safe To Travel When Diagnosed With Giant Cell Arteritis?

I may have to attend an important funeral for my Brother in Law in New York and will feel really bad if I miss this but my family have huge concerns because 5 months ago I was diagnosed with Giant Cell arteritis affecting my vision and I have since had one relapse I remain on steroids daily. Will it be wise for me to plan to attend this funeral?
