Is It Safe To Use Retin-A For Age Spot On Eye Lid?

I have a large age spot on my eye lid. A dermatologist said that a PA could scrap it off. The PA said she wouldn t try it since it was so close to my eye. Is it safe to use Retin-A on it? I ve tried lots of over the counter creams but nothing has helped. Thank you.
