Is It Safe To Use An Expired Prescription Of Amoxicillin?

I have a script for Amoxicillin 500mg but I have 14 pills at home from my husband last year feb 2013. could i use this to treat a throat infection. Same dose its just he did not use it and I could not get to the pharmacy in time and do not have alot of money.....
