Is Itching At The Incision Site Normal After A Bilateral Mastectomy?

Yes thank you. My father had a bilateral masectomy a few days ago with the removal of his nipples and then grafted to a higher position. He is now feeling itchy post surgery. is this normal? Also what are his chances of his nipples surviving and not having any complications? He is 74 years old.
