Is Lower Back Pain A Symptom Of Kidney Disease?

Pain in lower back at the left kidney....muscle cramps and back ache.....have had kidney stones before, this is not that kind of pain.....urine has a odor that is slightly sweet smelling....sometimes have bladder infections and take bactrum (sp?)....I am worried this is something like long term kidney problems....
