Is Medical Marijuana Advisable For Severe Pains In The Body?

I've had a few open heart surgery's in my life time. With my recent surgery in 2008 things went bad I was put in a coma for a week. my brain swelled and they said I was having symptoms of a drowning patient. Anyhow every once in awhile get pretty bad pains around my heart and sometimes all over my body. These pains don't happen everyday but the pains do happen a lot. I mean sometimes they happen day to day but some days they don't. The pains will come out of nowhere and they hurt a lot. Sometimes they last awhile. I've been told that medical marijuana could help me work through these pains. my question to you is would these pains qualify for a medical marijuana id to get medical cannabis?
