Is Painful Hard Area On Toe After An Injury A Cause For Concern?

Bifold door fell on toe area of foot about a month ago tomorrow. No broken bones, toes were black and blue and were swollen. Swelling has decreased but toes are still a bit taut. Still hurts to wear shoes, painful hard area with some pain under the toes although the door fell ontop of the toes. Primary doctor can't obtain insurance approval for MRI so we were sent to Orthopedic doc. Should we go to Podiatrist?? Not sure of next steps.
