Is Purple Leg And Ankle Normal While Swollen?

I ve had 5 knee surgeries, and due to that my ankle has become weak and i ve sprained it numerous times. Now the swelling will not go away. When I walk for even more than just a couple minutes, I feel lots of pressure in my lower leg. Then my mom noticed that this morning my lower leg/ankle even looked purple. Is that normal due to the swelling?
