Is Regestrone Safe For Curing Pcod And Helpful For Stopping Periods?

i m 18 years old girl suffering from pcod weigh 50.5kg and 154 cms tall. i was having periods continously for almost 2 months . my gynae told me to have regestrone tablets for 21 days to stop the bleeding.after 4 days the bleeding stopped. is regestrone safe? does it have any side effects? will it help in curing pcod or is it only helpful for stopping periods? if it helps in curing pcod , then how?
