Is Spotting Normal After Bilateral Oophorectomy And Salpingectomy?

I had a bilateral oophorectomy and salpingectomy in October 2013. Had a subsequent bowel obstruction in December 2013 which was able to be resolved without surgery. I have been on a low dose birth control pill since November. Over the past week I have had brownish-colored spotting, which is now red. I had a pap smear a month ago which came back normal. Is this a normal part of the healing process or do my hormones need to be adjusted? I'm 44, 5'6" and average weight.
