Is Stopping Pain Medication When Flare Ups Are Reduced A Good Idea?

My pain management doctor thinks it s time for me to consider pain meds. I hate the way they make me feel. Nausea, drowsiness and generally not good. I agreed to try feytenal patch 50 mg. what I want to know is if I leave it on for 3 days and then feel better can I stop it until the next flare up? I don t want to become addicted. I have so many things wrong with my back and have tried everything. I do find my pain is always related to the weather. What do you think?
