Is Surgery Only Solution For Mucocele?

Hi! I'm having a problem with a mucocele.. I get one every Saturday and its very painful it grows all day and then pops and the cycle starts again the next week. I'm currently away at school where I can't go to a doctor, but should I when I get home? And will surgery be very painful?
