Is Surgery Recommended For Swelling And Soreness In Knuckle?

I was unstrapping my dirtbike and the strap pull on my hand with good force. I now have a tendon that rolls over my middle finger with a discomfort pain. Knuckle is swollen and sore. I have full range of motion in all fingers. Is it usually something that heals itself of is surgery recomended?
