Is Surgery Required For Heel Spur Causing Severe Pain?

hi... I am suffering from Plantar Fascittis from last one year .I used to have severe pain in my heel when I used to get out of bed. I have tried all strategies ( cold bottle underneath plantar, stretching calf muscles, night splinters ,orthotics..etc) but I still have mild to moderate pain in the middle of my heel. Doctor, says it,s heel spur and have to undergo surgery. Well, I am afraid of surgery and want to avoid it. Could you recommend or say something to Ease off that pain . Thanks
