Is Surgery The Right Treatment For Spigellian Hernia?

I just recently had an ultrasound and was diagnosed with a Spigellian Hernia. My Dr. said he recommends not having surgery unless my symptoms get worse. I have had some sharp pains in the area and that is how I noticed the lump when pressing on it to help the pain go away. What concerns me is when reading online it says surgery recommended due to risk of strangulation
