Is Taking Raciper For Long Term Safe?

I have a severe GERD problem. I have been taking Raciper 20 (1 daily) for over 5 years now. If I stop it I get the burning sensation. My doctor has on multiple occasions told me that it is safe to have this on a long term basis. I am fine without any health issue currently. Wanted to check if it is safe to continue or I should go for any alternate treatment.
