Is There An Alternative To Iodide That Can Be Used In CAT Scan?

Many years ago I was given potassium iodide when I had a chest cold. I was allergic to it and my eyes swelled shut. I believe the dosage was about 10 or 15 drops. Now I am scheduled for a CAT scan with contrast media. I am concerned that if a few drops caused such a reaction, the iodides injected intravenously could be dangerous. 2 Questions: Is there now any contrast media that does not contain iodides? Is it safe to have the CAT scan using iodides?
