Is Thicker Cervical Mucus A Symptom Of Ovulation?

Hello, I am 29 years old. I am trying to get pregnant with a boy baby. This will be our first baby if I get pregnant. My cycle is 28 days cycle. This month I got periods on 12th Jan 2011. According to my ovulation calendar I should ovulate on 26th Jan 2011. But On 23th Jan I felt my cervical mucus was more sleeper and whiter. I am not yet sure that I have ovulated or not. After my periods in this month till now we didn’t have intercourse. We want to intercourse during ovulation for getting pregnant with a boy baby. Today morning I found my cervical mucus is thicker than earlier. Should we go for intercourse today to get pregnant? Or we are already late for this month? Kindly reply me.
