Is Transfusion A Effective Sign Of Severe Liver Failure?

my daughter s partner has severe liver failure due to alcohol. Yesterday, after his blood tests, his liver numbers were a slight improvement, but his blood count is low. He is going for a transfusion tomorrow. I know that he is probably living on limited time. Is the need for a transfusion a sign of lessening his time with us. I am his caregiver when my daughter is not able to be with him. I appreciate any info you can give me as to what to expect. Thank you
