Is Using Birth Control Pills Harmful For Health?

Hi I am Deepti I am using Femilon from last two years, but in last month i have taken 2 tablets after my periods and then it skips from mind & i discontinue it because as per my doctor opinion if i forget to take the medicine so I should take 2 tablets on very next day but i continusaly forget 2 days to take it so i stop taking it. the result is that i have to again face the problem of periods after 10 days of my last periods so please suggest me is it harmful for my health?
