Is Vaginal Spotting Normal Before Period Is Due?

hi i was wondering if you could tell me if spotting for a few days before your period is due is normal? my husband and i always use a condom and to be honest we have only had sex once in the last month due to a teething toddler and his work. do you think that i could be pregnant? or is that unlikely?
