I've Been Having Sore Throat Pain For The Past Two

I've been having sore throat pain for the past two weeks, I thought a cold was coming on, but no....I went to my primary doctor and they saw nothing, not viral at all. I just started taking iron supplements for the past month or so, was wondering if this could be the cause. I have also stopped taking them for the last few days to see if this is the issue. Still sore throat pain. I have an appt. with an ent doctor in two weeks to see if they see anything deeper in my throat causing the pain.
