I've Been Told That This Persistent Cough That I've Had

I've been told that this persistent cough that I've had for a year could be caused by acid reflux. I haven't had any bile in the back of my throat. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a hiatel hernia. My symptom was chest pain. I haven't had any symptoms in two years.
Can a cough be caused by acid reflux or a hiatel hernia? And can you have acid reflux and not know it (no bile)?
