I've Developed An On And Off Cough. During The Day

I've developed an on and off cough. During the day and often when I first lie down to sleep. It is completely relieved and stops when I burp. I do not have any discomfort in my chest or throat, just sometimes a little tickle in the upper, left side of my throat - very near the jaw. Are these symptoms of something specific and should I see my doctor?
