I've Got A MD Diagnosed Ear Infection, 64 Years Old

I've got a MD diagnosed ear infection, 64 years old and haven't had this since I was a child. Just started antibiotics, guaifenesin, and ibuprofen . Can I do anything else to help clear this up? - hot water bottle, menthol rub or something. I feel like I'm at 36,000 feet without my ears popping and just want to scream. No wonder kids are inconsolable with earaches.
