I've Got A Large Lump On My Right Rib Cage,

I've got a large lump on my right rib cage, I've had an ultrasound and they said it was just a lipoma (subcutaneous fat.) over the last month and a half I've had a really bad cough and a few sore throats, it just doesn't seem to go away! I recently gave up smoking on January and wonder if it's all related?
