I've Had A Cough Since I Was Young. I Was

I've had a cough since I was young. I was told that it was allergies but I'm not sure. I'm constantly coughing and swallowing my saliva. It always feels like I have something at the back of my throat. It gets worse in the spring time and winter time and especially at night. How can I get rid of this cough?
