I've Had Bruises For About A Couple Months Now That's

I've had bruises for about a couple months now that's don't go away and particularly one on my left knee (right side of the knee) is about 2 inches in diameter and I've had this for about 6 months some days it is dark purple-ish/blue and others it's very light what can this be and what can I do?
