I've Had Cold Like Symptoms For The Last Couple Of

I've had cold like symptoms for the last couple of days. I woke up this morning struggling to swallow with a pulled muscle like ache in my throat. I looked in the mirror and I have a big black lump on my tonsil. It's very painful and feels swollen. Any ideas as to what it is?
