I've Had Earache For About A Week. My Partner Also

I've had earache for about a week. My partner also has it. I've tried ears drops which seem to temporarily relieve the situation, with a few drops of added wild oregano oil to kill the infection. Yesterday I started on the antibiotic metronizadole (Cypriot name) 250mg 3 X day. But this morning I woke up with my right eye almost closed, due to swollen and reddened area above my eyelid almost up to my eyebrow, but painless and I can see perfectly through it. It's also the right side where I have earache. The earache doesn't really hurt unless I clamp my jaw shut. However I don't have any symptoms of a tooth abscess. Any ideas?
