I've Had Recurring Lumps On Top Of My Left Rib

I've had recurring lumps on top of my left rib cage. It seems that sometimes they swell up more than other times. Actually now only one is still there and it is soft and oblong. I think it is always there. As of two days ago it is protruding more re, feels inflamed and it hurts. What could this be? I've had it since 2011.
