I've Had Significant Pain And Swelling In My Right Foot

I've had significant pain and swelling in my right foot for 7 weeks. At first the doc thought it was gout but the treatment didn't work. Then they ordered blood tests which showed up abnormal liver and some level of infection in my body. They want me to have an ultrasound of my gallbladder and liver. What could cause the gall bladder or liver to cause pain and swelling in my foot?
