Just Got Over The Upper Respiratory Flu (got The Flu

Just got over the upper respiratory flu (got the flu shot too) but I have a terrible cough and I have coughed so much that my tongue is swollen on the side and under neath and I have sores on the sides of my tongue and also under neath. Is there something I can take to reduce the swelling and to help with the terrible pain? It is hard to talk and hard to eat anything.
