Just Had A Gum Graft. Had One On Other Side

Just had a gum graft. Had one on other side a few years ago and felt fine. This time I'm nervous. Terrible pain, swelling and bruising in area grafted. Just looked and tooth next to graft looks black. It is five days after surgery. Roof of mouth is very sore. No stitches up there unlike last time. Thinking I've done more harm than good. Would it be possible to deaden a tooth next to graft? Just read some reviews about bad grafting and now I'm terrified
