Last Night I Felt A Small Lump On The Roof

Last night I felt a small lump on the roof of my mouth close to my tonsils. It was a little sore. This morning when I woke up the lump was bigger and very painful and I noticed my tonsils are a little swollen. The lump doesn't have a head it feels like it's more under the skin. What could this be?
