Last Night I Peeled Off Some Dry Skin From My

Last night I peeled off some dry skin from my lips, which made me bleed. On one side it actually hurt a lot and bled for a while. I put some vasaline on my lips when the bleeding stopped, and kept them moisturized overnight. This morning it looked and felt much better. I have a face/lip exfoliating wash I use every morning, but noticed after I was out of the shower that the one side that bled a lot was now a little puffy greyish, clearish puff. I am terrified that it's herpes (because that's what my friend said), but also don't want it to turn into an infection.
