Last Night I Was Eating Steak When It Became Lodged

Last night I was eating steak when it became lodged in my throat. I couldn't breath and had my wife help me out of the restaurant. While I was wobbling out the door, I have a right side weakness from a earlier stroke. the meat went down and I could breath. I did not go to DR. and my question is could it have gone down my airway and if so how would I know?
