Last night, the painful spot that I have noticed on my right hip for almost 2 weeks, and thought to be an insect bite, suddenly looked different. This morning, it was confirmed that I have the shingles. The doctor saw the now-cluster of small scabs, as well as an emerging rash... just down a bit, above my knee. I have now taken my second dose of Valtrex, and have noticed a rash forming on my forehead as well as a patch on my opposite hip. I have removed my contacts, as both of my eyes, as well as my eyelids, feel irritated... though there is no visible redness or rash. I was diagnosed with MS over seven years ago. The first 4 years, I took both Copaxone and Avonex injections. And now, for more than 3 years, I have been taking monthly Tysabri infusions. My question(s)... First... Am I doing all that I can do to arrest the shingles? Next... Is there a difference in the protocol for treating the shingles, when the patient has MS? And finally... tomorrow is Sunday. Does this warrant a call to my neurologist before Monday morning? Thank you, in advance, for your advice!
