Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Last week I had a rash appear on my back in the same spot where I had shingles six months ago. Because I had Valtrex on hand on took it immediately and the rash stopped spreading, however because it didn't spread it was difficult for the doctor (3 days later) to determine if it was shingles due to lack of pattern (just one spot on my mid back/side). I requested a blood test to see why I had shingles recurr (visually it looked exactly the same as before prior to the medicine). The test results came back positive for HSV-2 (AND 1 - which I knew I had). Its an iGg antibody test I think. He said my 'hiders' were high for hsv-2 but i've never had any genital sores of any kind. is it possible a current shingles virus could result in the high hsv anti-bodies?
