Last Week I Was Diagnosed With Bv. The Dr Prescribed

Last week I was diagnosed with bv. The Dr prescribed flagyl. On the 5th day I had sex nd immediately felt discomfort. I then purchased over the counter yeast infection cream because I thought that was 5he problem. It didn't work and I'm very swollen. What could be the problem??
