Mr Jaffe, HELP ME!!! PLEASE.
I have a 26 yr old daughter that used heroin, then got in a program that used Suboxone to help her kick the habit. She came off Suboxone last Fall (2014). She has mental health issues (OCD, ADHD, and Depression) on top of that. She would like to get off meds because nothing seems to work. And she says the medication that would help, Dr's won't prescribe because of her previous addiction. She’s a great person and can’t seem to get the help she needs which has me worrying to the point I want to go on anxiety meds because I can't help her.
I'm single living with a wonderful woman that I have been with 14 years. Me wanting to help my daughters has created a rift between us. My biggest concern is my 26 yr old just can't seem to get proper medical help because she doesn't have insurance and Dr's won’t prescribe certain drugs. Where can I turn for help? I worry she will hurt herself, even though she says wouldn’t. She's living with someone that also has mental health issues. I need guidance, and searching local mental health "Hotlines" etc just redirects you to someone else, can't get Welfare because she's too able, want out-patient services, in-patient services, etc.
I believe in a Holistic approach to life. Proper diet, exercise, maintaining a healthy weight and good sleep maintains an individual. I’d like to “reboot” her through a several month stay at a facility that treats an individual holistically. I would give my meager savings toward this endeavor. She has no idea I’m writing this but I believe she would try anything to get back to being a happy productive person.
WHERE CAN I GET HELP FOR HER THAT WILL GET HER LIFE ON TRACK?
I'm a Firefighter since 1976 and have always helped people and now feel lost because I can't help her. I've helped my brother-in-law with a kidney donation in Oct 2013. I’m currently recuperating from rotator surgery, and can’t wait to get back to work. I’m eligible for Social Security in November 2104 and want to start winding down. I retired from the Allentown Fire Dept and then worked for PA Dept of Welfare as a Fire Marshal. I left there in 2007 at the age of 53 to become a paid firefighter in Reading PA. After all these years of helping others I feel helpless.

I’m helping one brother going for testing for liver cancer. Another brother with mental health issues we’re trying to get on SSI. My 87 y-o Mother needs a shoulder replacement and her other shoulder has rotator cuff problems she’d like to have fixed, and I don’t know how she’ll get through it. I’m starting to go ‘crazy’ trying to help everyone. Help Me!!! Please
