My 16 Month Old Grand Daughters Fingertip (pad Of Fingertip

My 16 month old grand daughters fingertip (pad of fingertip on pointer finger) is red. does not seen to be painful just red and not really getting better. We noticed this about a week ago and thought she may have mashed it in the cabinet by accident but that doesn't seem to be the case as it is not better.
