My 17 Year Old Son Was Swimming Today. He Jumped

My 17 year old son was swimming today. He jumped off the diving board but ended up sideways smacking the side of his head on the water. He had immediate sharp pain in his ear. He said he can hear, but describes sharp pain and pressure. He has had pain since it happened around 2 this afternoon. He rates his pain at a 5-6 out of 10. Could he have a perforated eardrum?
