My 17 Year Old Step Daughter Was Diagnosed With A

My 17 year old step daughter was diagnosed with a umbilical hernia that is leaking fluid. It is small looking in the belly button about 1/8". She is active and not overweight.
They did a sonogram and said she had air in her stomach and it should not have any. they sent her home from hospital and told her to get a GI dr referral from her GP that referred her to hospital for sonogram. GP said it would be about 2 weeks before she could get into GI.
My question - Should she wait or seek a different opinion? It's sore but not crippling pain.
